Knowledge Transfer Project
EIS EEG Indicators of Stress
This knowledge transfer project (KTP) is about using brain signals (i.e. EEG) as indices for stress. Many gaming applications can benefit from online stress measurement. For instance in applications that use gaming/VR technology to treat people for stress related complaints or to make them more resilient. The use of EEG based indicators can complement the use of other subjective and physiological measures such as questionnaires, skin conductance and heart rate variability. TNO develops knowledge on the use of EEG in games in the linked GATE work package; Noldus is interested in measuring human behavior offline as well as online (in the near future). In this KTP, we will work together on using EEG-based indices for stress (location of the electrodes), processing EEG signals to distill stress indices (both the theoretical basis for the indices as the required classification algorithms to calculate these fast and reliable), and validating the indices with physiological and subjective measures.
