Knowledge Transfer Project
Development and validation of a game designed to measure compliance. Using game technology to sample applicant behavior in job-related situations.
In this collaboration wherein the knowledge of two parties is combined, the main goal is to elaborate and validate a game design methodology called the Game Discourse Analysis (GDA). This methodology - an outcome of earlier research by the Utrecht University - can serve as a communication tool between the different disciplines involved in game development. The method provides a standardized description and visualization of the information flow in a game. To analyze this method, the GDA will be put into practice during the creation process of a serious game. The topical subject chosen is "compliance" in a job related setting. Measurement of this personality trait through a dynamic instrument looks promising: the immersiveness, rich environment and the possibility of feedback help to create a realistic setting. During the project prototypes will be produced and used in several pilots to gather data and examine the effects. As a result, parties can benefit from the GDA insights in further projects.
